"The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams"
~ Eleanor Roosevelt ~
Since I started down my path of becoming a photographer I have enjoyed photographing high school seniors. They are fun, energetic, young, adventurous and every one that I have photographed have been female. When I started redefining my brand and focusing more on women's portraiture I found myself in a bit of a dilemma. I really wanted to focus all of my heart and soul on women but I didn't want to give up senior portraits. I am pretty sure my dilemma really lies in the fact that at 18 are you considered a girl or a woman? It seems ridiculous to call you a girl but it really feels odd to call you a woman. Then I really sat down and thought about this and I came to the conclusion that while your parents may still consider you their "little girl" at 18 you are on the verge of becoming an adult; a woman in society. So I decided that I would include senior portraits under the umbrella of women's portraiture.
With that settled, the next thing is what to offer my seniors. I want to give them the full on glamour treatment I would give any of my clients. Full hair and makeup, albeit subtle, a fun fashion-filled session, the whole in person ordering session. Your session should be all about your personality and who you are now, yet have a little bit of who you are about to become in the big 'ole world. I want you to feel beautiful. I want you to feel on top of the world. I want you to feel fabulous! You are about to embark on your future and reach for your dreams so show that off in your senior portraits as well.
