Ahhh, Love! There is nothing more exciting than capturing love in my camera. Especially when it is the love of two newly engaged love birds. I met up with Laura and Jeremy at Freedom Park in Charlotte on a gorgeous fall afternoon and we let their love for each other and the history of her diamond guide us through the park. Jeremy went old school and asked Laura's family for permission. Not only did he get permission, he got a diamond that has been in her family for generations. They were an absolute blast to work with!
If you are looking for a fun way to show off your new ring as well as your love, I would LOVE to talk to you. You can contact me right here through my site by clicking here!

Welcome back my beautiful friends! This week I want to talk a little about my mission as a portrait photographer and my journey that has lead me to this point so far.
When I started my business, all I knew is that I loved taking photographs and I wanted to make it my life's work. I wanted to photograph everything, with a focus on horses, but as I got going I quickly changed my focus to humans. I photographed anyone who would get in front of my camera, I followed and watched and studied photographers of all genres. It was an eye opening experience. I slowly refined my focus as I determined which sessions made my heart sing and which barely registered a note. Then I did my first boudoir session and I was hooked! It was so much fun and the results made me realize this is where I was meant to be. This is what I am supposed to do. I realized that every session I really loved was one where I helped a woman see her true beauty. A senior portrait where her personality shined, a bridal session where she just glowed with anticipation of her upcoming wedding, a boudoir session where she found her confidence. In all of these sessions, the women in my photographs shared one thing: Inner beauty that came forth in their photographs. Often times, senior portraits are the last images we have made of ourselves alone. Not every bride does a bridal session before her wedding day. Only a select few women actually book a session for themselves of any kind. Now that I am at the point in my photography journey that I know who I want to photograph and why, I am ready to focus on helping women of all ages, shapes and sizes find their confidence and see their true beauty the way the world sees it. I am ready to help busy moms and business women take a few hours of me time and find the beautiful woman that the rest of the world sees. The mission of Faerie Light Photography is to give today's busy woman a fun and empowering experience with some relaxing me time during a boutique session to remind her of the beautiful goddess hiding just below the surface. Read my full Mission Statement here. Are you ready to give yourself some well deserved girl time? Are you ready to boost your confidence? Are you ready to rock your true beauty? If you answered yes to any of those questions, give me a call or shoot me an email and let's chat about how you dream of being photographed. Please remember that those who love you now, LOVE YOU NOW, just the way you are in this moment. ♥xoxo♥ Kay Last week I started a new series called Topless Tuesday and if you read the original post you know that there will not actually be any topless photos posted here. This week, I didn't even make the Tuesday part either. Like many this time of year, I have found myself in bed with the crud that is going around. My head feels like a balloon and just the thought of thinking made it hurt. Today is the first day I have been up and about for any amount of time. But enough of that, this post is not about being sick! Today's post is about a little salon I visited over the past weekend. If you already follow my page on Facebook or G+ you have probably seen my post all about my new haircut. (I'll be doing a separate post all about it soon!)
Anywho, the salon is Jen's Styling Booth in Mooresville and my stylist was Lexy. She was amazing! She listened to what I wanted, looked up pictures on her iPad and together we decided on my new cut and color. I am so pleased with my hair, I am telling everyone I know, including all of you! I have some even better news for you though. If you go to their Facebook page right now you could win a session with me! You just have to tell them in 25 words or less why you or someone you know deserves a makeover and a photo shoot. Easy peasy! You will also get $100.00 toward your portrait purchase. I can't wait to meet the winners and show them how beautiful they are! Oh, did I forget to mention that not just one person but 5 ladies will be winners? That's right! Five lucky ladies will be in front of my camera, courtesy of Jen's Styling Booth! Check them out and enter to win. ♥xoxo♥ Kay Beauty for a cause. For the second year in a row, LACE will be hosting a fashion show featuring top name lingerie and swimsuit designers with benefits to go to Carolina Breast Friends. Be sure like both pages on Facebook to keep up with the latest details. The event will be on May 10, 2014 from 5-9 pm in Charlotte, NC. Tickets to the event are now on sale and can be purchased here. Lace will also be hosting their Official Launch Party on April 3 with Pin Up Poker. Tickets are only $15 to participate in the poker play or $10 for general admission and both can be purchased here with proceeds once again benefiting Carolina Breast Friends. You can win some great prizes, check out the models for the show and meet the vendors pre-show. I am happy to announce that I will be in the audience taking photos of the main event as well as backstage with the models. I am so excited for this opportunity and to help out such a great cause! I hope to see you there!
♥xoxo♥ Kay Ha! I bet that got your attention, didn't it? Welcome to my new weekly blog post series. There will not actually be any topless photos in this post. I am calling it topless because it's going to be revealing and I will release a new post every Tuesday. I am going to share something about myself, about my business, about my life, etc. I will even blog session reveals here from time to time. This is my effort (once again) to consistently blog something every week. I am horrible with blogging though. I have client sessions to blog from last year! So hopefully, this will keep me on track and help me get back into the swing of things. I am also thinking of keeping these posts short and sweet ;) Today I thought I would reveal a couple of updates on my website. I have changed my galleries a little bit. Instead of scrolling down through each page, the images now scroll in front of you; no need to do a thing! I have also added an Instagram button to my social butterfly section on the home page. Now you can easily find my Instagram page and follow me :) One last thing is the contact page. I changed it up just a tad but because it's not a very interesting page (unless you are wanting to contact me, wink! wink!) most people won't really notice it. If you have any feedback about my site, please let me know. I want to make sure it is easy to use, engaging and pleasing to look at. If there is anything I can do to make it even better, I want to hear about it!
So I hope you enjoyed this new little blog feature. If you have any topics that you think I should reveal, please send me an email with the subject: Topless Tuesday or comment on my Facebook page. I look forward to hearing your ideas and feedback! ♥XOXO♥ Kay Fall colors, a beautiful country setting and a gorgeous bride...this is every wedding photographer's dream. Okay, maybe not every, but it was mine. The location was amazing, the atmosphere was good ole' country fun and Ashley was stunning in her strapless ivory gown. While the color was dulled by the dreary forecast and scattered showers, nothing could dull this couples love and excitement on their special day. In case you missed it, make sure you go back and check out their Engagement session and Ashley's bridal portraits on the blog. I will be booking limited dates for intimate weddings this year. If you are interested in discussing your wedding date, please contact me and we can make sure it is available.
